White sugar, brown sugar…Which is healthier?

I bet many think that brown sugar is healthier. Maybe it is because of the sayings that brown rice is healthier than white rice and brown wholemeal bread is healthier than plain white bread. However, from the perspective of science, how true is it that brown sugar is healthier than white sugar?
Differences between brown sugar and white sugar
All kinds of sugar are from sugar cane. When sugar is first formed from sugar cane, it is brown. After the brown sugar is bleached by the manufacturer, it becomes white sugar that is free of molasses that gives sugar the brown colouring. In terms of their taste, brown sugar has  richer sweetness.
Nutritional value of brown sugar and white sugar
White sugar is actually 99.9% pure sucrose, while brown sugar is 97% sucrose, 2% water and 1% other substances. A teaspoon of white sugar contains 16 kilocalories, whereas one teaspoon of brown sugar has 17 kilocalories. 
It is an undeniable fact that the molasses in brown sugar comes with calcium, potassium, magnesium and iron that are essential for our health. However, there is only very small amounts of these minerals in brown sugar. Consuming much brown sugar while thinking to get the minerals is irrational as diabetes may attack. Therefore, brown sugar does not bring any health benefit to us.
The choice between brown sugar and white sugar matters when it comes to taste and the ingredients for baking. In short, whether brown sugar and white sugar, you should consume them in moderation.
